Configuring Multilink PPP in Windows NT for use with Economy ISP

Note: Please see Multilink Notes and Tips for information on using multi-link service, including requirements.

  1. Double-click My Computer.
  2. Double-click Dial-Up Networking.
  3. Click New to create new phonebook entry for multilink PPP.
  4. Enter " Economy ISP" for the connection name and click Next.
  5. Select all options and click Next.
  6. Select the first modem and click Next.
  7. Enter the dialup access number and click Next.
  8. Choose Point-to-Point(PPP) and click Next.
  9. Choose None and click Next.
  10. Enter 0.0.0.0 in the My IP address field then click Next.
  11. Enter the appropriate DNS number (see settings info) and, for WINS enter 0.0.0.0 and click Next.
  12. Click Finish to save the entry.

  13. On the Dialup Networking window, select the multilink PPP entry, click More and select Edit entry and modem properties....
  14. Click Multiple Lines in Dial using then click Configure ....
  15. Click the second modem and click Phone numbers.
  16. Enter the dialup access number (same number as entered into the initial entry)and click Add then click Next.
  17. Multilink PPP phone book entry will be installed.
  18. To connect click Dial button.
  19. Enter your login name, password then click OK.

Include the name and version of your operating system and the exact text of all error messages. If this information is included in an online case submission or provided to a support representative, it will greatly speed up the troubleshooting process.

Please be aware that some troubleshooting may require uninstallation and reinstallation of operating system files. To ensure that this type of troubleshooting can be accomplished if required, please be sure that you have to have original Operating System CD or Operating system source files on disk on hand.
